The cat ate your tongue (pt. O Gato comeu-te a língua) is a multi-platform portuguese radio show, a partnership between Produções D. Mona and Rádio Movimento, with the aim of creating a platform for discussion around Art.
On the 28th of May, the program focused on the theme of sculpture, having as guest the performer and sculptor António Azenha. António Azenha was born in Angola, in 1964, but grew up in Figueira da Foz and Coimbra.
He has a degree in Painting and a Master’s in Aesthetic Communication from EUAC. Azenha began to exhibit in the 80s, participating in several festivals and exhibitions with works of drawing, painting, happening, performance, video and sculpture. In his career, in 2009/10, the work entitled “O meu peão, deles e nosso” stands out, beginning a work marked by children’s imagination and collective generational iconography, which culminated in the exhibition “Toys Replay”.

In 2016/17, he opens the “Yellow Bricks” exhibition at the Municipal House of Culture in Coimbra, whose basic concept is the reuse and redesign of toys on a larger scale to create an aesthetic experience that takes us back to the imagination of childhood. More recently, it presents the exhibition “Interact Buddha Party”, an art installation based on ancient Chinese stories and legends, which includes sculptures inspired by the Chinese horoscope and the animal imagery of Asia, as well as an artist’s calendar. António Azenha was awarded honorable mentions at the III Bienal de Arte de Vila Real, at the Mondego Painting Competition and the Teixeira Lopes Prize. He participated as a scenographer in a theater project “Gil Vicente nas Escolas” promoted by Coimbra Capital of Culture, in 2003. He was curator of the projects “Rota das Artes” (2005/2006) and of the LINE UP ACTION – International Festival of Performance Art ( 2010 to 2013).
