EXCLUSIBLE ICONS (Detailed description)
The Artbox VR: Exclusible Icons exhibition opens with Leonor Trindade Sousa’s abstract expressionist paintings, which last year won 12 awards in Italy, Portugal, Brazil and France. The exhibition highlights Outro olhar, a work awarded with the Artist of the Future’21 Trophy, distinguished by the artist’s expressive talent.
Exclusible icons also has a space dedicated to the theme of symbolism and mythology with Arista2099. Arista2099, inspired by classic and new myths, traces the evolution of the human species and the future we are headed towards, transferring them onto the canvas or into the world of crypto art. We can also revisit some works by Ghanaian photographer Kwame Koda who tells us visual stories through the unique art of conceptual photography. At his side also the Chilean crochet painting artist Cecília Acevedo, who through textile fibers seeks to enhance the sensory experience through the crochet technique, created from botanical threads, hand-dyed with natural pigments.
Walking through several rooms where the works come to life, many other masterpieces are highlighted in this immersive VR exhibition, including the Butterflies collection, by Gulnar Sacoor, which invites you to immerse yourself in the myriad of colors and realistic images of minimalist forms and endless landscapes, among mystery and spirituality; We also discover the London artist Catarina Diaz, through her analogue collages with oil sticks that give visibility to the female figure inspired by the cosmopolitan life of London, by fashion, but also by the memories of a childhood inhabited by the vibrant and exotic chromatism of the ‘West Africa. Alongside it, the works of Lena Silva and Ashima Kumar, both celebrations of the creative and autonomous power of women, with a focus on the strength and spiritual dimension of women. If Ashima’s works juxtapose geometric simplicity with painterly strokes, drawing inspiration from traditional folk art forms and natural motifs, Lena Silva’s artwork can be described as portraiture, figurative with a subtle touch of expressionism.
Alongside the huge 3D projections we also went through the work of Abílio Marcos, whose pictorial language dialogues with expressionism and poetic symbolism, all combined in plays of colors and shapes. Also playing with shapes, the Mexican artist Lilia Luján is presented, whose pieces fall within the figurative-expressionist line, full of allegories with funny characters and elements of nature that acquire expression through color and collage. Finally, with a focus on childhood, we also went through the Affections collection, by the artist João Freire, who seeks, through watercolor and extreme sensitivity, to express the ties that unite parents and children since birth.
Exclusible Icons is a traveling exhibition aimed at an art-interested audience that includes families and visitors of all ages. It’s a beautiful exhibition on Contemporary Art that combines international names with a deep dive into the heart of creativity.
