Artbox VR wins the 7th edition of the Iberian Festival Awards in the Best Use of Technology category (PT). The award distinguishes the best innovative technological solutions in the Iberian Peninsula. The Portuguese project, created by businesswomen Mónica Kahlo and Sílvia Raposo, was presented within the scope of the Books & Movies Festival promoted by the Municipality of Alcobaça. For those who remember 3D cinema, the famous videomapping installations and large art exhibitions that required weeks of preparation and assembly, the future of art is now easier and takes place in the metaverse.
The virtual reality Artbox VR project is promoted by Galerias São Rafael and is a large artistic production that fits in a 30-centimeter technological box. More than an exhibition, Artbox VR is an immersive show in virtual reality. Artworks pop out of their frames and paintings come to life in an innovative 360º experience with image, empathetic sound and interactive video”, accessible in the presentation space or from home via a virtual reality headset. The Artbox VR project now goes down in history together with MBWAY, See Tickets, IDASFEST, PayPal, Place & Tickets, Ticketea and EDP, winners of previous editions.
The awards ceremony took place on the 11th of March at the Grand Auditorium of Forum da Maia, as part of the TALKFEST Music Fest Summit. The CEO’s of Galerias São Rafael, the company responsible for the project, were present at the gala, in the person of Mónica Kahlo and Sílvia Raposo, who in their thank you speech reinforced the importance of technological innovation in the creative industries in Portugal and the most recent commitment to internationalization. The project was nominated for the October demonstration at the Books & Movies Festival at Armazém das Artes de Alcobaça, premiered in Rome at the beginning of the year and in October will arrive in London within the scope of the StART Art Fair.
