ABOUT THE ARTIST’S WORK
Mazarine delves into the intriguing realm of Pareidolia (parr-i-DOH-lee-a), a psychological phenomenon wherein people perceive familiar shapes and patterns that in reality, lack any such forms. However, her distinctive approach involves skillfully concealing these stimuli within her artworks, setting her style apart as Mysteries in Color, a label coined by critics who recognize the enigmatic allure of her creations.
“I play intelligently on a psychological phenomenon known as Pareidolia (parr-i-Doh-lee-a) – a phenomenon that leads people to perceive familiar shapes and patterns in theabsence of any actual forms. In my creative process, I go a step further by concealing
these stimuli within my artwork. This unique approach has earned my style the title of Mysteries in Color, where uncovering the clues is essential to unravel the artwork underlying subject. It’s a journey that culminates in a rewarding “a-ha” moment for the

Mazarine Memon was born into an eccentric and fun-loving Parsee family in Bombay (Mumbai), the artist is of Iranian ancestry, Indian by birth, Italian at heart, and Canadian by choice. Based in Canada, through her art, Mazarine explores her Indian and Iranian roots, operating out of The Art Brewery, her studio. Mazarine is constantly exploring new and exciting avenues. Among her recent accomplishments is the publication of Mysteries in Colour™, an art workbook. She has also conducted a range of creative, corporate, and social workshops related to the publication. Mazarine has exhibited in India, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Oman, and Bahrain.
With her work, the artist believes in challenging viewers to think differently. Her fine art collection, which a collector once referred to as ‘mysteries in colour,’ employs pareidolia phenomena to urge viewers to uncover the mystery hidden within the painting. In her signature style, the push and pull of realism vs. abstract is readily apparent in the abstract shapes and forms that appear to be pretty shapes on first glance until their true meaning emerges. Her work have been awarded with several prizes, such as Maharashtra State Art Award or art award in the Mixed Media category at Art Aurora – Ontario.
